Art for a greener tomorrow

When I launched the project Yesterday Today Tomorrow in 2024, I became much more aware of the passion which people feel about climate change and the future of the planet. This passion produced discussion between the generations, films and artworks which have had several showings. I have also become aware that it is increasingly diﬃcult for artists' work to be seen by a large audience, or indeed to sell.

With this in mind we have established this new website, which is a platform for visual artists whose work reflects their concern for the planet, to generate awareness of the climate crisis and its consequences. It will be a showcase for these works and will oﬀer an opportunity to sell work if the artist wishes.

Art for Planet Earth is a not-for-profit 'Unincorporated Association' and is run voluntarily. Any surplus, after administrative costs, will be donated to environmental charities.

We hold open calls for artists to submit original work to exhibitions in support of the aims of Art for Planet Earth. Artworks can address any aspect of the environment or the climate crisis, and will be the artist's opportunity to make a statement highlighting the global consequences.

Works will be assessed for their compliance and then displayed in an exhibition in the Gallery page of this website. At the close of an open call for which we are running a competition, the entries will be judged by well-known professional artists / environmentalists and a winner announced. A monetary prize will be awarded to the winner.

Our online gallery is the place which focuses on environmental issues. The gallery will contain exhibitions that show the work of individual artists, groups of artists or specifically focused themes. We are able to showcase artists' work and promote it for maximum exposure.

Selling your work is difficult and potentially expensive. We have created a space for you to sell your work through one of the exhibitions in our gallery. Simply specify the price and we will do the rest.

Buyers can view the work for sale and when they wish to make a purchase we will coordinate the sale and the financial transaction. As we are not a physical gallery, it will be up to the artist to liaise with the buyer to arrange delivery. Refer to the For Artists page for further details.

How do I respond to an open call?

Browse our open calls, pick the one that inspires you, and fill out the simple entry form — no account needed. Some open calls also offer a competition. Artists of all backgrounds are welcome to participate.

What are the entry requirements?

We ask that your work centres on environmental themes and is your own original creation. Each open call will have full terms and deadline details, so check the guidelines before submitting.

How are competition winners selected?

A panel of artists and environmental advocates reviews each piece for creativity, impact, and how well it fits the open call's theme. Winners are announced on our site and notified by email.

Can I offer my art for sale?

Absolutely! If you'd like to sell your environmentally inspired art, either let us know during submission or see the information on the Artists page. We'll walk you through the process to feature your work in our gallery.
